Charles Carter, CEO Carter Marketing
Broadcasting has been a natural progression for the Carter family. Founded by the late Harcourt C. Carter, Sr. in 1948, the Carter Record Shop provided the springboard for a number of music, entertainment and communication related businesses in the ensuing years such as Cody’s and Carter Marketing. Since the inception of the latter, in 1992 by Charles Carter, veteran broadcaster whose voice and communication expertise is known throughout the archipelago, Carter Marketing has originated, developed and executed some of the most successful promotional campaigns in the Bahamian marketplace. No matter what kind of business it was, Bahamian music was always central to all Carter endeavours and the family prides itself on being affiliated throughout its history with many successful projects aimed at bringing the works of Bahamian artists to the forefront.
It comes as no surprise, then, that it has long been Charles Carter’s dream to create a broadcast institution that would be known for its appreciation of Bahamian Culture and to make that idea an economic success. When the Government of The Bahamas issued a broadcast license to Carter Broadcasting Bahamas Limited in 1999, Charles Carter’s dream started to become a reality.
